Workshop by Rachel Snack
November 23 + 24 (optional), 12-5pm
Come weave a project with us on the rigid heddle loom! Weave a holiday gift for a loved one or something to brighten your home and keep you cozy during the cold winter months. The rigid heddle loom is a faster weaving process than a frame loom, so during this 5-hr workshop students will be able to complete a project of their choice – a long woven wall-hanging, placemats, a scarf or table runner. If you’d like to weave more than one project or wish to do a complex design, sign-up for two days of weaving! Pre-warped looms will be set-up for a 15” weaving width.
Students will be taught basic weaving techniques to complete their projects, but this studio time does not include a tutorial on dressing the loom. Students will be able to consult with an experienced weaver on design and materials, and will be given a crash course on finishing techniques – how to properly treat your textile after it comes off the loom.
Quality materials will be selected for this class to guarantee all projects created are made to last, and additional materials may be purchased at the weaver house shop. The rigid heddle loom is not included in the tuition price but will be available to purchase at the end of the class. This studio also includes light refreshments.
This is a beginner weaving workshop and no previous weaving knowledge is required. We also offer studio time with pre-warped floor looms for 1-2 day projects, please email us at email@example.com or call us at 215-278-2504 to inquire about availability.
