the yana blanket

the yana blanket

This blanket is woven in Peru on a back-strap loom. It is a hand-dyed wool and alpaca blend.

This textile can be used actively as a throw or blanket. It can also be framed and displayed as a wall-hanging.

All of our Peruvian blankets are two pieces sewn up the middle. Textiles can only be made about the width of the body to fit on a back-strap loom, therefore larger textiles must be woven in two pieces. This is very common in traditional Peruvian textiles.

There may be slight variation to the detail of the weaving and symmetry of the textile due to the handmade process. We believe this makes the weaving truly special, and we hope you do too.
